Cebu karate club overall champion in nat’l tourney

Team Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu harvested 15 gold medals to emerge the top team in last weekend’s Second Hayashiha Shitoryukai National Championships in Dumaguete City.

The Vidal siblings, Rafael, Ayanna Lein and Ricah Faith combined for six gold medals for the province in the tournament participated by around a hundred karatekas.

Rafael Vidal dominated the kata’s intermediate and advance categories to capture two gold medals. He also topped the kumite event in his division.

Ayanna Faith also won two gold medals in the intermediate and advance kata. She also dominated the dual kumite event in her division.

Ricah Faith chipped in one gold medal after ruling the dual kumite event in her class.

Their teammate Franzel Yannah Cainila won three gold medals after after topping the novice and advance kata as well as the kumite event in her division.

The Sacedon sisters meanwhile, composed of Maria Leonor, Eliza Marie and Christine Marie Sacedon combined for five gold medals.

This after, Maria Leonor topped the kata advance and the kumite event in her division while Eliza Marie snatched two gold medals in the kata intermediate and advance categories. Christine Marie Sacedon topped her division’s dual kumite. Enzo Nirel Hipulan pocketed one gold medal in the advance kata competition.

Aside from the 15 gold medals that Team Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu won, the club also collected nine silver medals and three bronze medals.

Host team, Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Dumaguete City, finished second with 10 gold medals, seven silvers and nine bronze medals while Team COSCA finished third with seven gold medals, nine silver medals and eight bronzes.
