Vice President Leni Robredo’s resignation from the Cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte due to differences of principles was a logical decision given that he didn’t show any support to her programs as housing chief.
That plus the fact that the Vice President has been advised to desist from attending the Cabinet meetings should explain why she quit her post.
Robredo enumerated the position of the administration that she stands opposed to, like the burial of Marcos in the Libingan ng mga Bayani, the extrajudicial killings and others.
Robredo’s decision shows her character and her principle that should be emulated by our government officials especially that she suspects the administration of planning to steal the vice presidency from her.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s threats to SM and Filinvest for allegedly violating some ordinances is a telling indication that Cebu City is no longer friendly to investors.
One must remember that it was Osmeña who sold the South Road Properties (SRP) properties to SM and Filinvest. Now that the two institutions have put up their buildings and businesses, the mayor is now calling their attention to some violations.
To be fair, I’d like to see the mayor make good on his threats so that the two institutions can avail of the legal remedies in our courts. I bet that SM and Filinvest would not take the threat sitting down and will pursue all legal means available to refute the charges leveled at them by the mayor.

Recently, the Department of Health reported the alarming rise of HIV in our country that reached to 38,000 cases within a decade.
This is a problem that should now concern our community because it showed that the HIV cases usually involved students from high school and college.
There is now a prevailing sentiment in the DOH to provide counseling to our students before the distribution of condoms and IUDs to our students. I believe that all the sectors of our society should contribute and participate in our battle against the proliferation of HIV in our country, especially the Catholic Church.

The recent reinstatement of Supt. Mariano Marcos as regional chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-8) as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte showed without question that the President approves the raid that killed Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa despite Kerwin Espinosa naming Marcos as one of the protectors in the drug trade in Leyte as well as the suspicious circumstances that led to the elder Espinosa’s death.
