AFTER failing to cross Gingoog Bay which connects Camiguin Island and Misamis Oriental last January, Pinoy Aquaman Ingemar Macarine is now setting his sights on crossing Triana Port in Limasawa Island to Padre Burgos Port in mainland Southern Leyte today.

Macarine, a lawyer and an environmentalist, aims to cross the 13k distance as one of the highlights of the 496th anniversary of Limasawa Island’s historic First Mass by the Spanish missionaries.

The open water swim also hopes to raise awareness about the importance of having cleaner seas.

No less than Southern Leyte governor Damian Mercado pledged his full support to Macarine’s grueling swim.

If he completes this one, it will be his 25th successful open water swim and will allow him to enter the record books as the only Filipino to achieve such a feat.

According to Macarine, he will try to complete the 13k swim within three to five hours depending on the wind and weather conditions. He is also planning to have an open water swim in Subic Bay, Zambales on April 2 and return to UK to resume his quest of the English Channel which he failed to do last year.
