Team Toyota Cebu gears up for second leg of Vios Cup
After a thrilling and successful performance during the opening leg of the Vios Cup Season 4 last April, Team Toyota Cebu springs back into action looking to build on their previous success in the second leg, which kicks off today at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Team skipper Lord Seno reported that the team’s morale is sky-high after he and Sean Velasco finished in first and second place, respectively, in the Sporting Class in the first leg at the same venue.
Still, he said many challenges lie ahead for the team this weekend, one of which will be the success ballasts being placed on the race cars of the podium finishers of the first leg.
30 kilos of weight are added to the car of the champion, 20 kilos to the second placer and 10 kilos to the third placer.
“The team feels inspired after the 1-2 finish in Leg 1,” the multi-titled veteran racer said. “But we need to overcome some obstacles like the success ballasts.”
Seno added that weather might play a crucial factor in the race.
“Rain will give due advantage to the drivers in Luzon because they can practice in the wet,” he said.
Despite those obstacles, the team, according to Seno, is still upbeat going into the race.
“Morale has been always high. It’s the confidence that we need to build.”
Meanwhile, Team Toyota Cebu will be parading a new members in Brian Currie, a former driver of Toyota Palawan, and Dr. Clive Fermin, another ex-karting ace from Kartzone Cebu. The rest of the team are Seno, Bobby Pangilinan, Oscar Suarez, and youngsters Sean Velasco and Jette Calderon.
Aside from the Sporting Class, the “waku doki” race of Toyota Motors Philippines will also have a Promotional Class and Super Sporting Class. After this race, there will be two more legs for the year.
