Police arrests 1, rescues 4 minors from Sambag 2 drug den
Fuente Police rescued four minors aged 14 to 17-years-old from a drug den in Sitio Brupa, Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City early on Saturday morning.
Police Chief Inspector Maria Theresa Macatangay said the four were made to stay in one of the offices at the Fuente Police Station while they facilitate their transfer to the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Central Visayas (DSWD-7) office for debriefing and counseling.
Charges for the violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are also being prepared against Rico Ryan Cabanas, 33, who was identified as the drug den operator.
Macatangay, head of the Fuente Police Station, said that she sent a police team led by PO2 Ramonito Canasa to Sitio Brupa to verify reports on the operation of a drug den in the area.
During their visit, the police team noticed the presence of at least four minors inside the drug den.
When they barged inside, police saw two of the four minors snorting drugs while inside Cabanas’ drug den at around 3:30 a.m.
Canasa said the minors tried to escape but they were collared by the police.
The raiding team also recovered from Cabanas’ possession two sachets of shabu, two empty sachets and drug paraphernalia.
Macatangay said they are also investigating the possibility of drug peddlers using the four minors as drug couriers.
