BOHOL showed its dragonboating supremacy after two of its teams ruled two categories in yesterday’s Dragons in Argao 3: Dragon Boat Competition at Terra Manna Resort in Barangay Poblacion, Argao town.

The Bohol Paddlers Association (BPA) dethroned the Dauis Wild Dragons-Team B in the mixed short boat category clocking one minute and 30.89 seconds. The Wild Dauis Dragons finished second in 1:33.96 while the Philippine Accessibility Disability Services Inc., (PADS)-Team A, came in third in 1:34.58.

The Dauis Wild Dragons however, bounced back in the open short boat category, winning the gold in 1:30.46. PADS-Team A (1:31.24) finished second while BPA (1:32.84) salvaged third.

Meanwhile, Barangay Langtad (1:35.05) successfully defended its Barangay Short Boat title against Barangay Casay (1.37.61).

Michelle Cutang, marketing manager of Primary Homes Inc, the organizer of the event said they are happy with the turnout as the number of competing teams increased from last year’s 12 to 15 this year including eight from Cebu, four from Primary Homes, two from Bohol and one from Dumaguete.

“The awareness of the people about dragonboat is growing not only in Cebu but also in neighboring Negros and Bohol,” she said.

Nonnie Lopez of Dragon Boat Central Cebu (DBCC) said that they will have a clinic in the City of Naga next week and a possible competition in Danao City before the year ends.

“DBCC’s vision is to have one (dragonboat) team per municipality,” he told Cebu Daily News.
