CPPO operations exec is new Carcar police chief
Carcar City Police Station will have a new police chief starting today.
This was confirmed by outgoing Carcar City Police chief, Supt. Jose Liddawa, after he received an order assigning him at Camp Crame’s Drug Enforcement group at the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters in Quezon City.
Liddawa has served Carcar City for more than a year when he was assigned in Carcar City Police Station August of last year.
He will be replaced by Chief Insp. Randy Korret from Operations section of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CCPO).
Liddawa said that he hoped that the new Carcar City police chief would be able to maintain the peaceful situation in the city.
“Carcar city is peaceful. Carcaranons are peace loving people and supply of illegal drugs in the city is low,” Liddawa said.
He also said belied allegations against Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura linking him to illegal drugs.
“In fairness to Mayor Apura, he has not been involved in any illegal activity. I have been observing him but I haven’t seen any trace of his involvement in illegal drugs contrary to the reports that we received,” Liddawa added.
Liddawa said that he will miss the people of Carcar, especially its famous chicharon and lechon even though, he has high blood pressure.
Mayor Apura, for his part, said he was saddened when he learned of Liddawa’s reassignment.
He described Liddawa as the best police chief the city ever had.
He cited the City Council’s awarding Liddawa for his efforts to maintain peace in the city and on his efforts against illegal drugs.
“Liddawa has effectively implemented programs, especially on illegal drugs. If I may decide, I want him to stay as police chief of Carcar but we have to follow the PNP’s procedure,” Apura said.
Apura also challenged incoming Carcar City Police Chief Korret to at least or achieve what Liddawa did or even surpass his performance especially on the anti-illegal drug campaign.
The turnover of command will happen today, which will be witnessed by Supt. Jaime Quiocho, deputy director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office.
Before becoming a police chief of Carcar, Liddawa has been assigned to the Public Safety Company of Mandaue City Police Office. Liddawa was a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy and a member of the school’s Class 98 graduates.
