ABC to look into small town lottery outlets
The Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) called for a meeting with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Thursday to discuss the opening of small town lottery (STL) sub-outlets in Cebu City.
ABC President and City Councilor Phillip Zafra said the growing number of these sub-outlets became a concern to the local barangays.
“There are so many sub-outlets in the Barangays without us being informed. In fact the PCSO has failed to inform us of the operations of these STLs in the Barangays,” Zafra told reporters.
Zafra said minors are lured to buy the tickets in these sub-outlets since it is only affordable.
STL Sub-station or Sub-outlet is a collection center established in various locations inside a town or city. It operates under the supervision of an STL Station to collect bets from bettors and remitting its collection to the STL station.
“We were not really informed about this. And we received a lot of complaints from our constituents about the STL. It looks like masiao,” he said. Zafra said STL promotes gambling, especially to minors.
