THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) Webmasters finished off their stint in the 33rd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Invitational Basketball Tournament on a winning note, as they beat the National University (NU) Bulldogs, 75-69, to claim the third place prize last Sunday at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

The Webmasters fell to NU, 77-86, early in the four-team pocket tournament that also featured the University of Santo Tomas and the hometown Go-Duterte Eagles.

UC, however, was able to exact vengeance on the UAAP squad in a solid performance that saw it lead from start to finish.

Darrell Shane Menina, who previously played for the Bulldogs, led the Webmasters with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists while Frederick Elombi from Cameroon pitched in 21 points, six boards, three blocks and two steals.

Also scoring in double figures were John Jabello and Justine Dacalos with 12 and 11 markers, respectively. They also combined for eight boards, seven assists and a whopping eight steals.

The Webmasters brought home the P50,000 cash prize.
