Capitol turns over P9.2 M in cash aid, equipment to farmers
ABOUT P9.2 million worth of farm equipment and financial aid were turned over by the Cebu provincial government to several farmers associations in the province during the 4th Farmer’s Day at the Capitol last Aug. 14.
Of that amount, P1.4 million worth of farm equipment were given to the farmers, whom Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III described as “heroes of the land.”
About P7.8 million in financial aid or about P600,000 were each given to farmers associations in the towns of Santander, Daanbantayan, Dalaguete, Tuburan, Alcoy, Sibonga, Dumanjug, Badian, Samboan, Ronda, Asturias, Aloguinsan and Santa Fe under the Capitol’s Farmer’s Scientist Training Program (FSTP).
Davide said the provincial government will consider putting up a trading center near SM City for farmers in the province to showcase their local produce.
The area was part of the newly-acquired property under the 93-1 land exchange agreement between Cebu City Hall and the Capitol.
