CHITO S. Roño’s “Signal Rock” dominated this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP).

The film got the Main Feature Critic’s Choice Award while its lead star Christian Bables won the Best Performance by an Actor during the Gabi ng Pasasalamat held at Whitespace in Makati.

Bables, in an Instagram post, thanked the people behind the PPP, the jury, and the Film Developmental Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

“Sharing this award and recognition to my Signal Rock co-actors, staff, and crew, and Regal Entertainment Inc. family. ATIN ito! TAYO ito! Blessed to have worked with you all,” he said.

Bables plays Intoy, everyone’s go-to guy in their town in Biri, Samar.

He takes care of his family while his sister works as an Overseas Filipino Worker.

Since the island has a poor signal, Intoy has to go climb up a rock formation to communicate with his sister.

“Signal Rock” is Bables’ first PPP entry.

He was named Best Supporting Actor for the film, “Die Beautiful” at the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival.

In the same post, Bables thanked Roño.

“Direk this is for you, for all the genuine love, care, trust, and confidence you have for me. Mahal na mahal kita direk! Thank you for being my rock. My Signal Rock,” he added.

He also offered his award to the people of Biri, Samar.

“Inaalay namin ang parangal na ito, para sa INYO. Si INTOY AY KAYO, at KAYO SI INTOY. Storya niyo ito! Madaming madaming salamat sa pagbabahagi ng napakayamang istorya ng inyong bayan,” he said.

Produced by CSR Productions and Regal Films, “Signal Rock” also stars Daria Ramirez, Nanding Josef, Mon Confiado, Elora Españo, Ces Quesada, among others.

Jason Paul Laxamana’s two films, “The Day After Valentines” and “Bakwit Boys” tied for the Audience Choice Award.

“The Day After Valentine’s” which is headlined by JC Santos and Bela Padilla is the film festival’s highest grossing film, earning P45 million as of yesterday morning.
