Paragsa upsets Lycans in Duterte cagefest
PARAGSA edged the defending champions Lycans, 68-67, to emerge as the top seed in Bracket A in the Duterte Basketball League last Sunday at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street.
Former Letran Knight guard Franz Dysam bannered Paragsa’s attack as he scored 21 points while Joel Japon helped out with 16. More importantly, the win gave Paragsa a 6-1 win-loss record, the same as Sherilin Plastics, but the former grabbed the top seed after winning over the latter in the elimination round.
In Bracket B, CompMan emerged as the top seed after they plastered Penthel, 64-49. Ryan Noval led the winning side with 16 points even as Brian Gomez added 10. Like Bracket A, CompMan ended up tied with Tito’s Kitchen at 6-1 but the former got the top seed by virtue of the winner-over-the-other rule.
JTR also grabbed a ticket to the next round after they upset SAGBAF Enterprises, 50-43.
The quarterfinal matchups will see Paragsa taking on JTR while CompMan battles the Gifters. Tito’s Kitchen will take on the Lycans while Sherilin Plastics tangle with SAGBAF Enterprises.
