BARANGAY Bonbon in the uplands of Cebu City will have a new chief, after the court ruled in favor of the election protest of Alexander Ibarita.

Judge Monalila Tecson of Branch 1 of the Municipal Trail Court in Cities (MTCC) ruled that Ibarita won by 15 votes against Eduardo Cabriana who was declared winner in the October 28 barangay elections.

Ibarita was Bonbon barangay captain for two terms before he lost to former councilor Cabriana by 48 votes in the barangay election.

Ibarita, a supporter of Mayor Michael Rama said he is grateful to Team Rama for providing him legal assistance in his election protest.

Mayor Rama for his part said that he did not want to intervene in the implementation of the court decision. But he is happy that Ibarita won in the election protest  case.
