Batch 2013 takes down 2003-Cebu Landmasters

Cebu City, Philippines —Batch 2013 stunned the 2003-Cebu Landmasters, 67-64, in the 2019 SHAABAA Summer League-BadBoys Wingz Cup on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the Magis Eagles Arena.

2013 led by as much as 19 points, 40-21, but 2003 came roaring back to tie the game up at 52-all heading to the final canto. 

The two teams battled in the fourth until Jacob Lee scored on a deuce to give 2013 a 66-64 lead with eight seconds remaining.

2003 had a shot at tying the game up but Justin Huang missed, leading to a free-throw by 2013’s Kent Megio with two seconds to go, for a 67-64 lead. 

2013’s Jan Jaca then missed a three-pointer as time expired to give 2013 the victory.

Lee and Megio led 2013 with 18 and 13 points, respectively, spoiling Huang’s incredible performance that saw him net 38 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

In other games, 2005 bested 2008, as Elddie Cabahug and Antonio Datan scored 30 and 22 points, respectively.

2015 also routed 2000, 75-62, with Anton Chua and Nino Araw-Araw putting up 14 points each. 

2009 routed 2002, 110-61, behind a balanced scoring attack that saw four different players reach double-figures led by Philip Lim’s 19. /bmjo
