CSBT management prepares for arrival of Holy Week travellers

CEBU CITY, Philippines – The management of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) is now preparing for the arrival of passengers who left Cebu and other neighboring cities during the Holy Week break.
Jonathan Tumulak, terminal manager, said that around 15,000 to 20,000 passengers are expected to arrive at the terminal from the countryside today, Black Saturday.
But the bulk of the travellers are yet to arrive on Easter Sunday, April 21.
“Gikan pas buntag daghan nag mamalik kay work pag Lunes. Trapik ang Lunes,” (Arrivals will start in the morning (of Sunday) because travellers will already be going back to work on Monday. We anticipate heavy congestion on Monday),” he told CDN Digital in a phone interview today, April 20.

With the arrival of Holy Week travellers, Tumulak said that CSBT personnel were tasked to manage vehicular traffic within the terminal’s premise. They will especially make sure that passenger drop off points are unobstructed.
Meanwhile, Tumulak is asking travellers to leave for Cebu City early on Sunday morning to avoid heavy traffic congestion in Minglanilla town that may result from road closures for the annual Sugat-Kabanhawan festival.

He said that a portion of the national highway from Barangay Calajoan to Barangay Poblacion will be closed for the festival’s street parade. He said congestion in these areas may last two to three hours. /dcb
