The Cebu Provincial Board sought the preventive suspension of Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia on charges of abuse of power and usurpation of authority.

During the PB’s regular session this afternoon, eight members voted “yes” for the preventive suspension of the younger brother of Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia of Cebu’s 3rd district for appointing the municipal council secretary without consulting with the council.

The vote came after PB Member Arleigh Sitoy recommended to Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III to impose the preventive suspension against Garcia. PB members Sun Shimura, Joven “Benjun” Mondigo, and Alex Binghay abstained from voting, saying they haven’t read the recommendation yet.
