Cebu City garbage collector in trouble for selling illegal drugs
TWO weeks ago, some garbage collectors in different Cebu City barangays tested positive for illegal drug use in separate surprise drug tests.
Yesterday, a garbage collector was arrested for allegedly selling drugs in a buy-bust operation in barangay Mabolo.
Manny Epe Flores worked as a garbage collector in barangay San Antonio. An identification card bearing the seal of barangay San Antonio was recovered from his possession, police said.
Flores allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to an operative of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOTF) who posed as buyer.
When frisked, Flores yielded 16 packs believed to contain shabu, said Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado, chief of CAIDSOTF.
Avergonzado said police monitored Flores for two weeks before he was arrested.
In an interview, Flores denied he was involved in selling illegal drugs and was just a runner of a drug pusher.
Flores did not identify the drug pusher whom he said he was connected with.
Flores is detained at the Cebu City Police Office pending the filing of charges against him, police said.
