THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) is reshuffling its 144 intelligence personnel nationwide of which more than 20 are assigned in Cebu.
“The reshuffling of intelligence personnel has not been implemented for a long time that is why we are doing this right now,” BOC information officer Charo Logarta Lagamon said.
She said the last time there was a reshuffling of intelligence personnel was before the administration of Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon. Lagamon declined to elaborate on the details.
Port of Cebu Deputy Collector for Operations Paul Alcazaren said over 20 personnel in Cebu would be affected by the revamp.
“I am unsure with the exact figures but they are more than 20 personnel,” he told Cebu Daily News.
Lagamon said the revamp has something to with some anomalies in the ports. She said eight out of 10 shipments that entered the country have had problems.
“Some of them were misdeclared, and had disrepancies in weight or volume,” she said.
The Customs Personnel Order for the reshuffling of the intelligence personnel was signed by Commissioner John Sevilla and took effect on the first week of June.
