VSMMC healthcare workers to receive COVID vaccines from Pfizer
CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) announced that the first batch of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines for Cebu will arrive sooner.
Dr. Jaime Bernadas, director of DOH-7, said they are expecting vaccines intended for healthcare workers of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) to arrive here between February 12, 2021 to February 15, 2021.
“There’s no specific date as to their arrival but we’re expecting that they will be here within that time frame,” Bernadas told reporters in a virtual briefing on Wednesday, February 10.
Hospital workers from VSMMC will be the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines in Cebu.

Bernadas said they will be administered with Pfizer’s BioNTech, the first batch of vaccines to be flown into the country.
Dr. Gerardo Aquino Jr., VSMMC hospital administrator, said a total of 2,904 employees under their institution has already consented to be inoculated.
“The vaccination will be administered at the hospital’s Center of Behavioral Sciences building,” Aquino added.
On February 15, the national government will be starting the initial rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.
