1 dead, 3 hurt in Malabuyoc motorcycle accident

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A young man died, while three others were badly injured in a motorcycle collision along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion 2, Malabuyoc town, Cebu at around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Police identified the fatality as Nicholas Lauron, 20, a resident of Barangay Montañeza in Malabuyoc town.

The injured individuals were identified as Joje Secusana (the driver), and his two passengers, James Iran Tirol and Jimboy Ansano.

Based on the initial investigation, Secusana and his passengers were heading south while Lauron was traversing the opposite lane. Lauron was reportedly driving in a zigzag motion before crashing into Secusana’s vehicle.

The investigation also showed that Lauron was driving under the influence of alcohol.

All four of them were rushed to the Malabuyoc District Hospital where Lauron was declared dead on arrival (DOA) by attending physicians while the three others were admitted for treatment.

The colliding motorcycles incurred heavy damage and are temporarily impounded at the Malabuyoc Municipal Police Station. /rcg
