Cops from Station 5 in Lapu-Lapu test positive for COVID-19
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines- Six personnel from Police Station 5 in Barangay Pusok here have tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This development was confirmed by Police Major Aibert Jay Samson, police station 5 chief, who said that among his personnel who tested positive for the virus were three desk officers, one personnel from the Women’s and Child Protection Desk (WCPD), one investigator, and non-uniformed personnel (NUP).
Because of this, Samson said that his station will not yet accept any clients to prevent the spread of the virus.
He added that he is still waiting for advice from Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) director Police Colonel Arnel Banzon and the City Health Department if they would need to implement a lockdown.
“But we aren’t letting anybody in anymore,” Samson said.
Samson said all of the personnel of Station 5 who tested positive for the virus are asymptomatic and are now being isolated at the Lapu-Lapu City College (LCC), at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, and at an isolation facility in the northern town of Compostela.
It can be recalled that last month, LCPO chief Banzon also tested positive for COVID-19.
