Two men broke into a restaurant on Wilson Street, Cebu City at dawn yesterday carting away around P30,000.
The burglary in Pino restaurant in barangay Lahug was recorded in the establishment’s closed-circuit television (CCTV).
One robber wore a baseball cap, jacket, short pants, slippers and gloves while the other one was in short pants, a shirt and slippers.
The burglary was discovered at around 8 a.m. when one of the employees noticed that the cash register and vault were missing.
SPO1 Fredilson Codilla of the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit Operative said police will try to identify the robbers after lifting five different latent prints from the glass door and from the receipt container.
The robbers broke into the restaurant at 3:59 a.m. and brought the tip box outside, then the cash register and the vault.
Chief Inspector Noli Cernio, chief of Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), told reporters that the suspects did not appear to be neophytes since one was wearing gloves and a cap to hide his features.
Cernio said the security guard was doing his rounds on the other side of the establishment and didn’t notice their entry.
A security guard of a nearby establishment said he saw two men board a motorcycle carrying a box.
However, he said he did not suspect they were burglars.
