A 42-year-old man was killed while another was injured when a wayward pumpcrete rammed into a riprap wall in barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion town in northern Cebu.

Killed was Robin Boton, operator of the pumpcrete truck owned Kimwa Construction.

The  truck driver Abelardo Galope, 36, said they had just delivered cement to the  Sta. Lucia Realty Development Corp. when they met the accident

Galope said the truck’s brakes failed to engage while they were negotiating a downhill portion of the road.

Galope said as he steered the truck towards the riprap wall, Boton  jumped out. He, however, ended up getting run over after he landed underneath the truck.

After hitting the wall, the truck plowed into four motorcycles parked on the curb.

Habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) driver, Edgar Herbito, 42, was hit by the truck and fractured his foot.

The accident caused heavy traffic in the area after the star-crossed truck blocked the the road, said P01 Alberto Jimenez, traffic investigator of the Consolacion Police Station.
