Demand for CCTV up as biz booms in Cebu

Local businessmen have invested about P4 million for a new business venture offering security cameras and repair services for gadgets.

“With Cebu’s economy going on a robust growth, many investments will be poured in here. However, only about 20 percent of the business establishments have installed CCTV (closed circuit television) cameras,” said Jefren J.D. Pages, who partnered with his son J. Ezra to set up The Tech Box along Banilad Road in Cebu City. The Pageses also own Kaona Grill.

This leaves still a large untapped market for the company aside from the growing demand for CCTV for residential houses, said Jefron whose main product is the CCTV made by Scouter Electronics Corp.

Recent robberies in Cebu also indicate the real need for security cameras to be installed in establishments to discourage criminals.

For an investment of at least P15,000, one can already have a CCTV system installed in their properties.

He said a 700 TVL (TV lines), which has high resolution cameras and can clearly capture facial features.

Pages said that Scouter is the brand most preferred by businesses like Mini Stop, Rai Rai Ken, Palmer Asia, Fax Cable, Stoked Inc., Blue Sapphire Telecoms, Pan de Manila, Army Navy and more.

“We believe that having a CCTV system installed in your establishment will help protect you from the bad elements as it makes you less preferable compared to those without one. Having a CCTV system is now a must-have for everyone,” he said.

Jefron said they plan to set up sub-outlets in neighboring cities like Carcar and Danao.

He said for these planned expansions, the company is set to invest another P5 million.

“We plan to make people more aware of our products and services and make the CCTV system available to them especially that now there are only limited shops that sell CCTV,” he said.

Dealerships will also be set up in major cities as their way of promoting their products.

Aside from the CCTV system, Pages said they also offer repair services and supplies for smartphones and other gadgets like laptops, tablets and more.

“We can fix smartphones brands like Samsung, Apple products and more,” he said.
