A man was shot to death while watching tigbakay (illegal cockfight) in barangay Cambanay, Danao City, northern Cebu.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the killing of Ronsell Casas, 30, a resident of barangay Dunguan, Danao.
Investigators said Casas was watching a cockfight Thursday afternoon when an armed man arrived.
Police said the assailant approached the victim, who knelt down and raised his two hands in surrender while pleading to the gunman not to kill him.
According to witnesses, the assailant shot the victim’s palms and finished him off with shots to the head and other parts of the body.
People scampered to different directions.
The gunman fled onboard a motorcycle.
In barangay Tabok, also in Danao, a 38-year-old laborer was critically wounded after he was stabbed by his friend in a drinking session last Thursday night.
Danilo Capuyan sustained stab wounds in the chest, abdomen and neck.
Police identified the assailant as a certain Jimmy, who fled after the incident.
Police said the two men got into an argument before the attack happened.
