122 sign up for Sinulog Football Festival

A TOTAL of 122 teams have signed up for the upcoming 5th Sinulog Football Festival slated Jan. 10 to 12 at the San Roque Parish Football Field in barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City.

Cebu Football Association (CFA), the organizing and the sanctioning body of the football festival, bared the current number of participants in the 12-division competition. Participating teams will be composed of different football clubs and school squads.

Fifteen teams have enlisted each in the under-nine mixed,under-13 boys, under 15 boys, under-18 boys and men’s open divisiona. In the under-11 mixed division, 12 teams will compete while seven will vie in the girls’ under-15 division. The under-18 girls division will have eight teams. In the ladies open, six teams have enlisted while eight signed up in the men’s inter-BPO and six in the inter-company division.

The CFA is expecting more teams to sign up in the tournament that is held in line with the celebration of the Sinulog Festival in honor of Señor Santo Niño.

But the CFA said the vaunted Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) football teams will not field in squads in the under-13, under 15 and under-18 divisions while their rivals Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), PAREF

Springdale and University of San Carlos (USC) will deploy squads in all of the aforementioned age groups.
