MEDELLIN town in northern Cebu recently received the Seal of Good Governance in Good Financial Housekeeping Category from the Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG).

Medellin Mayor Ricardo Ramirez said he is grateful that Medellin received recognition and credited his constituents for the town’s success.

“I don’t say it’s mine, it’s the pride of the whole town,” he said.

He said their secret is “transparency and full disclosure of our financial statements plus good audit observations and efficient collection of taxes and prudent spending plus a balanced budget.”

The mayor added that it is their first time to receive the award.

The Seal of Good Governance in Good Financial Housekeeping Category is one of the requirements needed for local governments to be awarded the Seal of Good Governance.

Ramirez said he hopes the Seal of Good Governance will be awarded to Medellin because the  P8 million cash incentive is a big help for the town’s projects.
