Aboitiz intensifies development of special science, tech-voc schools
The Aboitiz Group’s social development arm Aboitiz Foundation has allocated funds for the delivery of 27 Special Science Elementary Schools (SSES) and technical-vocational (tech-voc) classrooms in 2014.
Last year, the Aboitiz Foundation started implementing various SSES and tech-voc projects in its adopted schools nationwide in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
In Cebu, the foundation, together with business unit AboitizLand Inc., renovated the science laboratory of Mabolo Elementary School. It also donated laboratory equipment and textbooks and conducted training for the teachers.
The foundation also approved the construction of a new three-story school building with 17 classrooms for Subangdaku TechVoc High School in Mandaue City. Metaphil, the group’s construction arm, will install electrical wiring system for the school’s new metal workshop.
In Buanoy National High School in Balamban town, southwest Cebu, the foundation and Balamban Enerzone Corp. helped facilitate the rewiring and upgrading of the school’s electrical system, donated reference kits and tech-voc equipment, conducted teacher trainings, and refurbished tech-voc laboratory for commercial cooking and food trade.
Last Feb. 18, the foundation turned over three additional Tech-Voc workshop laboratories to Taguig National High School and another three SSES classrooms to Taguig Elementary School, its adopted schools in its new corporate headquarters in Manila.
“We believe that a better educated youth means a better Philippines. That’s why we continue to put education at the forefront of our corporate social responsibility initiatives,” said Aboitiz Equity Ventures SVP for Human Resources Txabi Aboitiz.
