Damazo Basketball Cup: Batch 1995 gets win No. 6, tops Division 1 standings
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Batch 1995 tightened its grip in Division 1’s top spot after clinching their sixth straight win by defeating Batch 1992, 129-106, in the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) High School Alumni-Damazo Basketball Cup Season 13 on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the USJ-R Basak Campus gymnasium.
Batch 1995 is now 6-0 (win-loss) in Division 1’s team standings with Paolo “Titot” Seno erupting for 68 points. Seno, who is also a barangay councilman in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City, added six rebounds, and three assists in their dominant win over Batch 1992.
His teammate Joy Olofernes, Rocky Bacalso, and Jojo Emnace scored 15, 13, and 10 points, respectively.
Rogelio Nacorda and Val Cardones scored 34 and 26 points, respectively in Batch 1992’s losing efforts as their team dropped to the bottom spot of the team standings of the USJ-R High School Alumni Damazo Basketball Cup with a 1-6 slate.

Tangkay unloads 57 points
In the other Division 1 game, ex-pro player Jojo Tangkay led Batch 1997 in demolishing Batch 1994, 135-94, to improve to a 3-3 card.
Tangkay finished with a whopping 57-point game with eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals as their team grabbed the No. 4 spot in the standings.
Meanwhile, Batch 1994 suffered its fifth loss in six games.
Jerry Dacalos and Jovarth Villarin combined for 24 points to aid Tangkay.
Ian Rosello spoiled his 41-point outing for Batch 1994.

Batch 2006 grabs first win
On the other hand, Vernon Legaspi also shone on Sunday’s game after scoring 49 points as Batch 2011 narrowly edged Batch 2006, 98-96, to grab their first win.
Arc Abellanosa, VJ Santos, and Anjelo Arreglado had 16, 12, and 10 markers, respectively for Batch 2011.
Roy Quiachon scored 35 points as Batch 2006 suffered their first loss in six games, but they remained on top of Division 2’s standings.
His teammates Jessan Baron added 16 points, while Ren Abing and Joefer Nadela combined for 23 points in their defeat.
