Kinasang-an fire burns down 3 houses, destroys P300k worth of properties
CEBU CITY, Philippines – A fire in Barangay Kinasang-an, Pardo, Cebu City damaged P300,000 worth of properties early Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023.
Firefighters from the Cebu City Fire Station responded to a fire that broke out inside a compound in Sitio Acasia of Barangay Kinasang-an at 4:39 a.m. on Wednesday.
Responding personnel arrived at the area and raised the fire to the first alarm at 4:43 a.m.
Fortunately, it took less than 20 minutes for firefighters to place the flames under control at 5:04 a.m. By 5:08 a.m., firefighters declared a fire out.
Fire Officer (FO3) Fulbert Navarro stated in his report that the fire totally burned down 3 houses and displaced 5 families or 20 individuals. The houses were all located in a 200 square meters lot.
He added that the estimated damage to property of the Kinasang-an fire was pegged at P300,000.

A total of 36 firetrucks responded to the blaze in Barangay Kinasang-an.
Based on initial findings, the fire started inside the house owned by a certain Irma Carano-o and was occupied by Joana Mae Toñacao.
Meanwhile, an elderly man identified as 70-year-old Gil Abapo suffered first-degree burns on his shoulder that he sustained as he tried to escape from the blaze.
Navarro told CDN Digital that based on their initial investigation, the fire started on the second floor of the house.
He added that they will be conducting further investigation to determine what caused the Kinasang-an fire.
“Padayon pa batong pagsusi, sa imbestigasyon regarding sa origin ug cause sa fire,” he stated. /rcg
