Woman poses as City Hall worker in extort attempt
A woman was arrested after she posed as a Cebu City Hall employee and allegedly tried to extort money from store owners in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
Niña Ramirez pretended she was an administrative aide at the City Treasurer’s Office inspecting business permits.
Police said the woman identified herself as Princess Sorilla when she inspected the business permits of NGK Bakeshop owned by Apple Jane Taboada, 24, and Chicken Vending Business owned by Gerdson Missiona, 44.
Ramirez allegedly told the business owners that they risk being fined since they lacked documents for their business permits, police said.
The woman offered to process the business permits in exchange for P1,500.
Suspecting something fishy going on, Taboada called the police
Police said the woman had two fake identification cards which made it appear she was an employee of City Hall.
Also seized from the woman were three business permits.
Police said they suspect that the woman is a member of a group involved in such illegal activities.
