Games today
Cebu Coliseum
4:00 p.m. – UV vs. Don Bosco (Jrs.)
5:30 p.m. – SWU vs USPF (Srs.)
After getting a taste of their first win last time out, the reigning champions Southwestern University Cobras will be hungry for more when they battle the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers today in the 15th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
In juniors play, the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers try to bounce back from an embarrassing loss to the University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars as they face off against the hapless Don Bosco Greywolves.
But all eyes will be on the Cobras – an undermanned nine-man squad that got whittled down to just eight players following the ankle injury that was suffered by veteran wingman Janjan Auditor. Still, they are expected to get past the Panthers, a team that is on the comeback trail after sitting out from the competition last year.
Much like their 69-64 win over the Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats, much will be expected out of their talented backcourt composed of reigning MVP, Mark Jayven Tallo and John Lloyd Luz.
USPF has lost its first two games but will still be hard-fighting bunch that will rally behind Bradford Borces and Clyde Avancena. However, they will be missing the services of guard Wisdom Ceniza who got a one-game suspension after incurring two unsportsmanlike fouls in the Panthers’ loss to the University of San Carlos last weekend.
