inq 2016 election logoAS far as Cebu’s 1st district is concerned, the Liberal Party (LP) will support all its member officials except for the district’s congressional seat.

“I spoke to our LP officials and we will issue Certificates of Nomination (CONA) to them because they are LP candidates. But we won’t issue any CONA to those running for Congress because of Secretary Mar Roxas’s commitment to Rep. Anthony Gullas,” Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said.

Davide also said that Provincial Board (PB) member Raul Alcoseba informed him that San Fernando Mayor Abe Canoy opted to run against Gullas under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

Davide also announced that his slate will file their certificates of candidacy today.

He said Pinamungajan Councilor Jeffrey Anthony “Tonton” Yapha is the LP’s bet for the PB 3rd district seat.

Yapha was suspended earlier this year due to his failure to return his service firearm.

Alcoseba, who was sworn into the LP fold yesterday, said he will run for mayor of Carcar City.

He and his slate will file their certificates of candidacy today.  His son, Ramon Alcoseba, will run for his PB seat in the third district. The younger Alcoseba filed his candidacy yesterday.
