Private vehicles are not allowed to pass through a portion of Pope John Paul II Avenue in Cebu City at certain hours on Nov. 22 and 23 as part of a traffic rerouting dry run for the 2016 International Eucharistic Congress (IEC).

The stretch starting from F. Cabahug Street (corner Leona Cakes and Pastries) in barangay Mabolo to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority office in barangay Lahug will be closed to private cars from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 22 (Sunday) and 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Nov. 23 (Monday).

Passenger jeepneys and taxis, however, can take their usual routes.

Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Dennis Villarojo said they want to test how motorists and commuters respond to the traffic changes.

“We are testing our plans whether they are feasible,” he said in a press conference attended by traffic managers in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu at the Archbishop’s Residence earlier today.
