A vegetable vendor was stabbed by a man who suddenly grabbed her while she was at her vegetable stand at the Tabada public market in Barangay Mambaling in Cebu City shortly before noon on Monday.

Lenneth Enjambre, 30, suffered stab wounds in the left leg and upper left arm and was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) along Natalio Bacalso Avenue for the treatment.

Witnesses said a man in his 30s, took a knife from a nearby meat stall before walking toward Enjambre’s stall.  He grabbed Enjambre by neck to force her to go with him to the other side of the road.

The vendor resisted and grappled for the possession of the knife but was stabbed instead.

Bystanders came to Enjambre’s rescue and mauled the suspect who was picked up by policemen from the Mobile Patrol Group. The suspect was also brought to CCMC for treatment of bruises on his body.
