A MAN was fatally shot by a security guard of the Carmen Copper Corp. in Barangay Das, Toledo City in midwest Cebu.
Ronelio Sasan succumbed to four gunshot wounds in the body.
Sasan was allegedly caught by security guard Gally Tolete carrying a 26-meter copper wire inside the compound last Monday afternoon, said SPO3 Alfredo Barquin.
Barquin said the guard chased the man, who then hid in a grassy area. While looking for the intruder, Tolete was attacked by Sasan with a knife.
A wounded Tolete fought back and shot Sasan using a .45 caliber pistol, he said.
Sasan died on the spot. A bladed weapon locally known as “plamingko” was recovered from his possession, said Barquin.
Toleto was brought to the hospital to be treated for stab wounds in the chest and right forearm.
