CEBUANO ace golfer Lloyd Jefferson Go lofted the city’s flag up high as he captured the individual title in the NCAA Big East Men’s Championship with a three-under par during the final round on Tuesday at the at Callawassie Island Golf Club in Callawassie Island, South Carolina, USA.
The 21-year-old Go is a product of the Cebu Country Club now playing for the NCAA’s Seton Hall.
In capturing the conference’s highest individual crown, Go made school history as he was only the third player from Seton Hall to achieve the rare feat.
He finished the three-round tournament with a six-under par, fueled by a breathtaking second round performance.
The junior set a Callawassie Island course-record, seven-under-par, 65, that began on Monday and ended on Tuesday after lightning suspended play.
Go’s seven-under-par, 65, is the lowest single-round ever shot for a Seton Hall golfer at the competition, and the second-lowest for a golfer from any school in the history of the conference tournament.
“The second round was amazing, I played great golf. I hit a lot of good shots and I also made a decent number of putts. I actually didn’t know until I made my last putt that I broke the course record for the course,” said Go after his historic win. “I’m pretty stoked that I was able to have the year I have this year. It’s been a really good year.”
