CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale were each issued brand-new Isuzu MU-X SUVs yesterday morning.
Jone Sepe, Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) head, said the acquisition of the vehicles had been processed in 2015 as the province’s top two officials’ old service vehicles have been rendered unserviceable.
Each new vehicle costs P1.865 million with the settlement taken from the Governor’s Fund under the 2015 annual budget.
Sepe said the vehicle purchase was planned in 2015. The first bidding was declared a failure but at the second bidding before the May 9 election, Isuzu won the contract to supply the vehicles, but they had to move back the awarding of the contract due to the election ban.
Davide also gave the go-signal yesterday to start the procurement of brand-new 4×4 double-cab vehicles for each of the incoming members of the Provincial Board (PB).
“We’re planning that the old (serviceable) vehicles assigned to the PB members will be given to the other departments and offices under the executive who have no vehicles to use. Those department heads with no vehicles, we will provide them, also including those key programs that need mobilization, we will also give them,” Sepe said.
A total of 16 brand-new vehicles will be purchased for the PB members. There are two board members for each of the seven legislative districts.
There are also two ex-officio PB members – the presidents of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) and the Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines (BCLP).
Each brand-new vehicle for the PB members costs P1.5 million.
Sepe said the budget for the purchase of the brand-new vehicles will be taken from the Governor’s Fund under the 2016 annual budget of the province.
