Courts to segregate records of old cases

By: Izobelle T. Pulgo July 03,2016 - 10:31 PM

COURT personnel will start segregating and extracting records of terminated cases that are five years old and above as well as old notarized documents and foreclosure of mortgage petitions this month.

In a notice issued to the courts at the Hall of Justice in the Qimonda building, lawyers and litigants were advised to apply for copies of documents of old terminated cases from Aug. 1 to 31 and pay a P500 application fee.

For this month, judges and court personnel will segregate the disposable or residual records and keep physical records of cases for their custody and safekeeping.

To expedite on record disposal, the regular conduct of inventory of pending cases during this month will be dispensed with.

The Supreme Court said documents of old terminated cases should be disposed of to prevent fires.
