Magis Eagles crash in 3rd JGM 17-U girls v’ball tilt

THE Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles once again a fell prey to a former tormentor after they bowed to Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS), 4-25, 25-22, 6-25, 15-25, in their championship match of the 3rd JGM 17-Under Girls Volleyball Invitational Tournament yesterday in Bacolod City.

The Magis Eagles, who lost to the same BTTHS squad in the semifinals of the St. Ignatius Volleyball Cup last month in Cebu, took off to a horrendous start and lost the opening opening set by 21 points.

It looked like SHS-AdC was going to give BTTHS a run for its money when it took the second set but the Bacolod-based squad got its rhythm back in the third and never looked back to win the title anew.

“Our team lacked a little bit of maturity and stability compared to the Bacolod City’s volleyball stars from Tay Tung Team. We will see what we can still do from here” said SHS-AdC coach Mario Sala.

SHS-AdC will try to regroup as it competes in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League starting May 29 at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Gym.
