Cebu Salsa Club: Dancing to fitness, fun and friendship

Summer is a great season to start something new. Set a new hobby that will make you fit and happy with a series of Latin dance workshops including Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba classes offered by the Cebu Salsa Club.

A premiere Salsa and Bachata community, Cebu Salsa Club has been holding salsa and bachata social dance events and workshops since 2011. The community started with two women’s passion for dancing which eventually turned into an organized group of Latin dance enthusiasts, professionals, and new dance learners.

“What we teach is really foundational, how to combine moves, proper body isolation and movement,” said Cebu Salsa Club owner Jill Enriquez.

Quality learning is also offered by the club through its partner dancers from around the world who have been recognized in various international Latin dance competitions.

This year, the club will host salsa workshops taught by International Salsa Champion Richard David Tholoor who won several awards like the World Latin Dance Cup Qualifier 2007 in Las Vegas (Salsa Solo) European Salsa Championship 2007 (Salsa Cabaret) and Australian Salsa Championship 2007 (Salsa Cabaret).

“What happens in salsa dancing is you dance so much and you enjoy the process, and you’re actually doing the exercise with joy inside of you so it’s a unique experience,” said Tholoor.

For willing individuals, the club will hold a free workshop on April 29, 1 pm to 5 pm at Maya Mexican Restaurant. One may register online at www.facebook.com/CebuSalsaClub or check out their website at www.cebusalsaclub.com for regular class schedules ideal for solo, partner, group and private sessions.
