This was the last message that florist, Daniel Jun Cañete posted on the social networking site, Facebook, the night before he was killed inside his flower shop in Sikatuna St. in Cebu City.
Earlier on Sunday, he also uploaded several pictures of his floral arrangements which he referred to as “memories of (my) creation” and “my inspiration.”
Cañete’s last social media activity got 137 “likes” and was shared by a friend, who wrote: “Wild world! Just can’t understand why a person who caused happiness to a lot of women/brides through his flowers was easily murdered?! Rest in peace Sir Jun. Justice be served.”
Those who got wind of his brutal killing expressed their sadness and outrage in the comment box that followed his post.
“May you rest in peace uncle. Hustisya,” said Lee Park Kris.
“Rest in peace sir Jun. (I) was looking forward for your creation on my wedding day. Justice for your death,” commented Janice Lorraine Ediza.
Cañete, 44, is popular among people in the events management business. A CDN source said, his creations were very elegant yet his prices were reasonable.
A native of barangay Bulatok in Pagadian City, Cañete started his floral business in a small stall at the Freedom Park along Calderon St. in Cebu City.
He later opened a “bigger and better” flower shop along Sikatuna St. about five months ago, said Iris Castillo–Cullar.
Cullar, of Iris Castillo Weddings and Events, said Cañete’s death was “unbelievable.”
“It’s a waste that he had to die. Sir Jun is a loss to us,” she said.

Jully Venus Cabahug of Chic Organizer and Events said she first met Cañete on August 2013. Her client, a Dubai-based bride, wanted Cañete to do the floral arrangements for her wedding.
“We looked for him through Facebook and nakita namo nga maayo ang iyang mga wedding floral arrangements. And dili kaayo expensive ang iya wedding packages. After that siya na pirmi among gikuha sa among mga weddings,” she told Cebu Daily News.
Cabahug said she last worked with Cañete in April.
“He is very hardworking. Friendly kaayo and down to earth. He respects his co-workers sa events industry,” she said.
Cullar said Cañete is one of the most dependable florists in Cebu’s events coordination industry.
She first met him about four to five years ago and have become a regular client since.
“He (Cañete) is very dedicated to work. Hands on kaayo siya and he really values his work because he is the bread winner of their family.”
Cullar said Cañete does not chose his clients and would only ask for P1,000 to P2,000 as down payment. He would collect the balance for his service on the day of the event.
He does not also mind working in two to three events, sometimes five events in a day.
“I would sometimes tell him to rest kay mura ug wala nay ugma kung mo trabaho. But I guess, more than the energy, it’s his passion that keeps him going,” Cullar said.
