A 69-year-old man died after he was shot by the owner of the dog that he hit with a slingshot last Monday night in Barangay Baliang, Danao City.
The victim, Maximo Tapia, was hit in the face. He died instantaneously.
PO3 Roselo Campo of Danao City Police Station said that at around 9 p.m. on Monday, Tapia got mad after the dog barked at him.
The dog is owned by his neighbor Jeje Capungan, 44.
Tapia hit the dog with a slingshot to silence the animal.
Capungan, despite having difficulty due to polio, confronted Tapia, resulting in a heated argument.
Capungan also accused Tapia of bullying him because of his disability.
PO3 Campo said the suspect went to his house and took a firearm. Capungan came back to the place and, without any word, shot Tapia who was walking towards home.
After the incident, Capungan surrendered to a barangay official, who turned him over to the police.
The suspect also surrendered the .38 caliber revolver he used in killing Tapia.
