A woman was injured after a fire broke out in a residential area along Villalon Drive, sitio Lower Panaghi-usa, Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City on Saturday night.

At least 14 houses were destroyed after a fire had allegedly started from a parked Toyota Light Ace Van (GDZ-800) at 6:13 p.m.

SFO2 Alberto Jagdon Jr., fire investigator, told Cebu Daily News by phone that a witness named as Antonio Siano told them that the fire started from the bottom portion of the parked vehicle and it immediately spread to the house owned by Luis Lim.

His wife Nancy, who immediately noticed the flame, went out of the house with Luis but suffered minor burns on her left face, shoulder and back as the van was parked in front, along the exit path.

The fire was placed under control at 6:52 pm. Jagdon said Lim is the father of Maria Eloise Lim, incumbent barangay chairperson of Sta. Cruz. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Damages were pegged at P250,000.
