THE Lapu-Lapu City government is sponsoring different contests as side events for this Sunday’s Cobra IronMan 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship.
Mayor Paz Radaza announced on Wednesday that there will be competitions for the Most Colorful Vintas, Cheer Dance, Pyrotechics and Inter-barangay Dance with corresponding prizes.
A total 208 of vintas will be deployed near the Ironman swim course venue at Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa with the top three most colorful boats to receive P20,000; P15,000 and P10,000. A P1,000 consolation prize will go to the top 30 boats.
Around 10 Cheer Dance teams from different high schools in Lapu-Lapu City will also perform at the Discovery Bay where Ironman participants take a loop in the running leg.
The top three winners will get P10,000; P8,000 and P4,000 with P1,000 as consolation prize.
A pyrotechnic contest called Pyromania will be held tonight at the Discovery Bay in Barangay Punta Engaño with the top three winners getting P100,000; P90,000 and P80,000.
The first three placers in the Inter-barangay Dance contest will pocket P25,000; P20,000 and P15,000 and P3,000 for consolation winners.
