THE 2011 Elevens completed a sweep of the elimination round in Division C with a 77-54 win over the 2014 Underdogs in the 2016 University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference President’s Cup last weekend at the USC North Campus gym.
Wily guard Dave Guardiario led the way for last season’s runners-up with 18 points to help the squad pocket their eighth straight victory and head to the playoffs with plenty of momentum. Batch 2014, on the other hand, fell to 2-5.
Meanwhile, the 2006 Fury’s Giovanni Padillo exploded for a conference-high 45 points to help lift his team past the 2015 Samurais in overtime, 94-83. Jig Paul Morales also played a stellar supporting role with 17 markers across his name to pull Batch 2006 into a tie with the idle defending champions 2008 Flyboys at 5-2. The Samurais dropped to third place at 4-2.
The 2005 Chameleons were also a victorious bunch after defeating the 2004 Rebels, 61-46.
In Division 2, the Sipat ‘98 remained within striking distance of the unbeaten 2002 Legendary Lions after they disposed of the 2000 Millennium, 66-57, as well as the 1995 Pirates, 79-72. The twinkill gave them a 6-1 card, half a game behind the Lions which tote a clean 7-0 mark. The 1999rs also entrenched themselves in solo third at 5-2 after routing the defending champions Dos Mil Uno, 84-54.
The struggling Batch 2001 now find themselves in fourth place with a 4-3 record.
