The local government of Carcar City is offering a P200,000 reward money to those who can give information on the whereabouts of the killer of a former barangay captain and incumbent barangay councilor of Barangay Napo, Carcar City.

Mayor Nicepuro Apura said the reward money could also help the authorities in their ongoing manhunt operation against the assailant who killed Mario Labra, 58, and wounded his wife Geronima, 55, and son Clayborn 24.

Investigation conducted by PO3 Francisco Saberon said the victims were inside their house around 9 p.m. last Wednesday watching television when the unidentified man wearing a mask suddenly entered through the main door and opened fire.

Mario was hit in different parts of the body resulting to his death, while Geronima suffered gunshot wounds on her left arm and Clayborn on his left leg.

After the incident, the man immediately fled on board a waiting motorcycle heading towards Barangay Guadalupe.

Saberon said the killing might have been politically motivated since the victim revealed that he would run again for barangay captain this coming barangay election.

Mayor Apura said that prior to the incident, Mario came to his office last week informing the mayor that he received death threat. On Wednesday morning, Mario came back and told the mayor that he received a death threat again.

“Ako siyang giingnan nga ayaw lang og kompyansa, amping lang kay kuhaon gyud kuno siya sa di pa ang election (I told him to be careful because according to him the person vowed to kill him before the election),” said Apura.

Apura believed there was political motive behind the killing because according to him the victim told him that he would run again for barangay captain in his barangay.

Apura was hopeful that the police could solve the incident.

The police recovered six empty shells of .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Geronima and her son were already declared out of danger after undergoing treatment at the hospital.
