Asst. Jail Warden Romeo Manansala of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) resigned as acting jail warden Tuesday morning.

His resignation letter addressed to Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III was received by the governor’s office at 10:14 am.

Manansala said he resigned since his term already lapsed and he would give way to other jail guards to assume his post.

Manansala clarified that he only quit his post as acting jail warden and not his current job as asst. warden.

He said he quit his post as acting warden due to health reasons and not because of last Sunday dawn’s raids that uncovered drugs and P4 million in cash and contraband within the CPDRC cells.

Manansala said he has been a jail warden for four years now and has served as a jail official for 35 years at CPDRC.
