13 houses destroyed, six damaged in San Nicolas fire

ABOUT 13 houses were destroyed and six others were damaged in a fire that hit Sitio Alumnus, Barangay Basak San Nicolas in Cebu City at past 11 am Sunday.
SFO1 Edwin Handayan, fire investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Cebu City station said the fire was caused by an overheated ceiling fan at the room of a certain Rechie Resurreccion.
Resurrecion’s room was located at the ground floor of a two-story house made of light materials. The fire spread to neighboring houses. Some neighbors claimed that the fire was caused by a rice pot that was left unattended.
Damages were pegged at P200,000. A volunteer of Barangay Sambag Dos sustained a cut in his left arm after he brushed against a sharp object. No one else was hurt.
