A SUSPECTED drug user was gunned down by two unidentified men in Barangay Candabong, Alcantara town, southwest Cebu around 10 p.m. last Sunday.
PO1 Engelbert Orbeta, desk officer of Alcantara police station, identified the victim as Nero Pulgo, 23, believed to be a mentally ill person who already surrendered to the police through Oplan Tokhang.
Investigation conducted by the police revealed that the victim was already sleeping in a shanty when two unidentified men suddenly entered and shot Pulgo twice in the head causing his death.
Orbeta said Pulgo had been suffering from mental illness since last year allegedly due to illegal drug use.
But last month, he surrendered through Oplan Tokhang, Orbeta said.
The motive of the killing has yet to be established.
